The initial study will be 4 years (Fall 2023 through Spring 2027). We expect to collect data and administer surveys twice per year during the study period.
Data collection will happen in waves:
No. Research participation is always voluntary.
No. Participation in the study will not impact your child’s offer of admission or continued enrollment in CHS.
Families will be asked to review and sign a consent form to participate in the study. Families of children with consent will be asked to complete surveys about their children and family. Children 2 years and older will be asked to complete game-like direct assessments.
You are still invited to stay in the study! We are hoping to learn about children’s development and learning beyond preschool.
You and your child(ren) are still invited to participate in the study! We will ask you to join the study by completing a consent form. Then, you’ll be invited to take part in a set of study activities, depicted below:
- All families will be provided a gift card at each data collection point to compensate them for their time. The gift card amount depends on the data collection activity:
- For your first activity:
- If you are filling out surveys online: $120
- If you attend an in-person family event: $200
- For future, ongoing activities:
- If you are filling out surveys online: $150
- If you attend an in-person family event: $250
- Children will be given a sticker and age-appropriate book.

Gift cards will be emailed to you approximately 1 week after completing the data collection activity. If you have not received your gift card, email play.study@sri.com or text (833) 274-7225.
